Disaster Guyz is a Boulder, CO-based consulting firm committed to community preparedness by empowering individuals to meet climate change and other unexpected events. Our founders created the company to forward the mission of their non-profit foundation, whose primary project is Sustainable Boulder by 2020, which is developing a model for communities around the world.

Audrey James, C0-Founder, Owner and Board Chair
In 2005, Audrey created the Paradigm Nouveau Foundation, a transformational organization dedicated to sustainability for future generations. Audrey is a 10-year member of the Clinton Global Initiative and has registered 2 Commitments to Action with the CGI, including SB2020 – Sustainable Boulder by 2020, to assist Boulder, CO in becoming a sustainable community model. In 2012, it became clear to her that the missing element in local sustainability was preparedness, thus Disaster Guyz was created and launched.
She is also the primary instructor for the Paradigm Nouveau meditation and yoga studio and has been teaching for 20 years. Audrey has lived in Boulder for 23 years, is married to Rick Levine and has 2 grown children.
Rick Levine, C0-Founder, Owner and President
Rick has over 30 years’ experience in running successful businesses that make a difference to communities. Most of his career was spent in the healthcare industry, primarily focused on creating affordable healthcare for the elderly. He was committed to finding ways to broaden healthcare coverage to those in need. In 2000, he created the first-ever Medicare insurance company in Puerto Rico called MMM Healthcare, Inc, which completely transformed that healthcare system. After selling MMM in 2004, Rick has dedicated his efforts toward community sustainability, including Sustainable Boulder by 2020. In 2012, Rick, together with Audrey James, launched Disaster Guyz to empower individuals in being prepared to meet the effects of climate change. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley, and earned his CPA designation with Price Waterhouse.
Abe Levine, Operations Manager & Preparedness Consultant
Abe was hired as Disaster Guyz’ first employee and principal designer of its technical web-based applications and creative look. He began his career with Renaissance Adventures (RA) as a Quest Leader in Boulder, CO. RA is an active, outdoor, Renaissance-themed theater game for children and teens, designed to develop self-esteem, team-building, and creative problem-solving skills. Abe created a brand-new program for RA called Hero’s Academy, a more realistic multi-day quest for older teens to develop lifelong skills. The response to this new program was overwhelmingly positive, from the teens who participated, their parents and other staff members. Abe left RA to help develop a competing outdoor questing company, and then joined Disaster Guyz in 2012. In addition to the technical design role, Abe has become a certified Wilderness First Responder and tests emergency preparedness equipment by simulating wilderness evacuations throughout the year. His interests include electronic music production, graphic design, rock climbing, and martial arts.
